چکیده

Local-nonlocal coupling approaches provide a means to combine the computational efficiency of local models and accuracy nonlocal models. This paper studies continuous discrete formulations three existing for classical linear elasticity bond-based peridynamic models, namely 1) method that enforces matching displacements in an overlap region, 2) variant constraint on stresses instead, 3) considers variable horizon vicinity interfaces. The performance is compared series one-dimensional numerical examples involve cubic quartic manufactured solutions. Accuracy proposed methods measured terms difference between solution approach model, which can be viewed as modeling error. objective assess quality formulation this class force-based methods.

The Bond-based Peridynamic System with Dirichlet-type Volume Constraint

In this paper, the bond-based peridynamic system is analyzed as a nonlocal boundary value problem with volume constraint. The study extends earlier works in the literature on nonlocal diffusion and nonlocal peridynamic models to include non-positive definite kernels. We prove the well-posedness of both linear and nonlinear variational problems with volume constraints. The analysis is based on s...

Analysis of the volume-constrained peridynamic Navier equation of linear elasticity

Well-posedness results for the state-based peridynamic nonlocal continuum model of solid mechanics are established with the help of a nonlocal vector calculus. The peridynamic strain energy density for an elastic constitutively linear anisotropic heterogenous solid is expressed in terms of the field operators of that calculus, after which a variational principle for the equilibrium state is def...

Linear Data Estimators for Uw-ofdm: Classical and Bayesian Approaches

UW-OFDM (unique word – orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) is a novel OFDM signaling concept, where the guard interval is built of a deterministic sequence – the so-called unique word – instead of the conventional random cyclic prefix. In contrast to previous attempts with deterministic sequences in the guard interval, the addressed UW-OFDM signaling approach introduces correlations bet...

Peridynamic models for dynamic brittle fracture

Adviser: Florin Bobaru Damage and failure in composite materials under dynamic loading has been extensively studied in experiments for several decades. Composite materials exhibit various damage and failure patterns under different loading rates, such as splitting and branching. Classical models cannot directly be applied to problems with discontinuous fields. A new nonlocal continuum model, pe...
